Topographical Survey

Job Information:

Back in March 2023 Landmark Surveys Wales was selected by an international technical professional services firm to conduct a topographical survey of Romford Ring Road. This survey aimed to provide crucial data for the design team to re-align the road, ensuring safety and efficiency for all who utilize this vital infrastructure.

Methodology:

The SML Geospatial division utilised the reflectorless method on their total stations enabling all detail in the live highway to be measured accurately and safely from public footpaths adjacent to the live traffic. This method not only negated the need for costly traffic management but also ensured the safety of surveyors and the public.

Due to the high traffic volumes on the roads using conventional methods of surveying would necessitate traffic management at high costs to the client and disruption to the flow of traffic.

Data:

  • The field work was completed in one week by two teams of surveyors working at night.
  • The data was then collaborated, and the desired deliverables produced including 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings and a Genio file.
